If you have not already, plA/Prof Kellee Slater is a Queensland-based General Surgeon and one of Australia’s leading specialists in Abdominal Wall Reconstruction (AWR). She is the Director of the AWR Unit at the Princess Alexandra Hospital (Metro South Health) and operates at Greenslopes Private Hospital, where she has built one of the country’s largest, most comprehensive AWR services. With more than 1,200 complex hernia and abdominal wall patients in her prospective research database, she has become a national authority on mesh science, complex reconstruction techniques, and outcomes research. Her academic output includes more than 40 peer-reviewed publications, multiple ongoing research programs, and leadership roles in national surgical training and workforce strategy. She is also President of General Surgeons Australia, where she is driving major discussions on training reform, service design, and workforce planning.
