Eva Deerenberg is a colorectal and AWR surgeon from the Netherlands. She completed a MIS and complex AWR fellowship at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North-Carolina, USA, under supervision of professors Todd Heniford and Vedra Augenstein. She earned her PhD in 2017 on the subject of hernia prevention and treatment. She has co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed scientific articles and book chapters on these subjects and is the first author of the STITCH-trial, published in the Lancet. She chaired the workinggroup that published the updated EHS and AHS guidelines on abdominal wall closure in 2022. Currently she practices robot assisted surgery at Franciscus Gasthuis in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
